Jumping Stilts – Brands
Whilst the most popular brands of jumping stilts in the UK are Pro-Jumps and Powerisers, there are several other brands out there. These tend to have more of a presence in mainland Europe or (with some brands) professional jumping stilt owners. Below is a list of other jumping stilt brands along with some information about them and how they differ to other brands.
Powerskips With they’re biggest presence in Germany, Powerskips are actually the brand of stilts designed and manufactured and by the inventor. These stilts tend to come with a much higher price tag, however part of the premium price does mean you get a higher quality stilt with some of the latest innovations and materials. These stilts tend to be worn more by the professionals and are available through UK Good Deals Ltd (also the supplier of the Pro-Jump brand).
7LeagueBoots With dealers in Canada, Austria and France, 7LeagueBoots fall into the same place in the marketplace as Powerisers and Pro-Jumps (lower end/beginner end). These retail for around 200 Euros (depending on size) and come with several differences to other brands. The manufacturer claims they:
Better positioned centre of gravity allowing you to jump higher and with less effort.#
The hooves are 25% thicker offering paralleled grip and longer lifespan
Bearings made from stainless steal and teflon coated copper providing fluid movement.
The spring protective sleeve is 3 times thicker offering higher protection and longer lifespan.
Powerisers These are the 2nd most popular brand in the UK (Pro-Jump being number 1) and are suitable for the beginner market, retailing for around £150 (depending on size). They currently have other distributors in the US, France and Denmark. These stilts are (believed) to be made in the same factory as most other brands and so are of a high quality and very good for learning the basics (and even trying out a few basic tricks).
FlyJumpers & Powestriders These are distributed in both Canada and France (in France these are distributed by the same company that also distributes Poweriser, 7LeagueBoots) and also the US (just Powerstriders). These stilts are also suitable for the beginner market but retail for around 279 Euros (again dependant on size) so offer a little higher quality and strength than some other cheaper brands. Generally, in the UK you will have the choice of either Pro-Jumps or Powerisers as a starter pair of jumping stilts. The only time you will really want to consider a different brand is when you fancy moving onto the more professional stuff where a high quality stilt is more important. Then something like a Powerskip is the best bet as these are the most easily got in the UK
